OXYTOCIN

Oxytocin is a naturally occurring peptide hormone and neuropeptide composed of nine amino acids. Produced primarily within the hypothalamus and released through the posterior pituitary, oxytocin has become widely studied in laboratory research involving neuroendocrine signaling, cellular communication, reproductive biology, neurological pathways, and social-behavioral biology.

Oxytocin research has explored its interaction with the oxytocin receptor (OXTR), a G protein-coupled receptor distributed throughout multiple tissues and regions of the central nervous system.
